Alpha Athing Community is a community-based organization in Kisumu County, Kenya. We can be reached at info.alphaathing@gmail.com.

2. What information we collect

  • Contact form submissions: your name, email, phone (optional), subject, and message.
  • Newsletter signups: your email address.
  • Basic analytics: non-identifying information like pages visited and browser type, used to improve the site.

3. How we use your information

  • To respond to your inquiries and provide requested services.
  • To send you newsletters and updates (only if you subscribed).
  • To improve our content and services based on aggregate usage patterns.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising purposes.

4. Where your data lives

Contact submissions and newsletter signups are stored in Google Firebase (Firestore) and accessed only by authorized Alpha Athing administrators. Email delivery is handled by Resend. Photos and media are hosted on Cloudinary. We rely on these providers’ security and privacy practices for the data they handle on our behalf.

5. Your rights

Under the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019 (and, where applicable, the EU GDPR), you have the right to:

  • Know what personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data (subject to legal exceptions).
  • Unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time.

6. Cookies

This site uses minimal cookies — primarily session cookies for administrators signing in. We do not use marketing or tracking cookies.

7. Children’s privacy

Although we serve children through our school programs, this website is intended for adult visitors. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children through this Site. If you believe we have, please contact us so we can remove it.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when the latest version took effect.
